2 Minutes to Calm

In the fast-paced world we live in, finding moments of calm and inner peace can feel like an elusive quest. Popular media may have you believing that you need to embark on a lengthy retreat or spend hours in solitude to experience the transformative benefits of mindfulness practices like meditation, but the good news is that is not necessarily the case. In fact, you can experience the many benefits of meditation in just 2 minutes a day!

No matter how much experience you have with meditation, there are many short yet powerful ways to incorporate this mindfulness practice into your daily routine, including this simple and effective 2-minute meditation. So, pause for a second, take a deep breath, and join us on a journey of tranquility and self-discovery as we explore a 2-minute meditation you can use to help you feel rejuvenated and centered so you can feel your best as you move through the rest of your day.

  1. Find a comfortable position, either sitting on a chair or on the floor, with your spine straight and your body relaxed. Close your eyes.
  2. Take a deep breath in through your nose, filling your lungs with air. Feel your abdomen expand as you breathe in, allowing your diaphragm to fully engage. Hold your breath for a count of four.
  3. Slowly exhale through your mouth, releasing all the tension and stress from your body. Feel the sensation of letting go as you breathe out. Repeat this deep breath two more times, focusing on the sensation of the air entering and leaving your body.
  4. As you continue to breathe naturally, imagine each breath nourishing and supporting every system in your body. Visualize a soft, healing light surrounding you, bringing peace and vitality to your whole body. Allow this light to penetrate deep within, soothing any discomfort or tension you may have been experiencing.
  5. As thoughts float into your mind, simply observe them without judgment. Imagine these thoughts as passing clouds in the sky, gently floating by. Return your focus to your breath and the sensation of your hands on your belly, grounding yourself in the present moment.
  6. Take a moment to express gratitude for your body and its incredible ability to heal and restore itself. Acknowledge the resilience within you, knowing that you have the power to reduce your own stress levels and support your overall health.
  7. Slowly bring your attention back to the room. Wiggle your fingers and toes, feeling the sensation of energy flowing through your body. Take another moment here to breathe, and when you are ready, open your eyes.

Yes, incorporating a practice of mindfulness into your daily routine can be as simple as that! And trust us, setting aside even 2 minutes for meditation each day is an investment that will continue to pay dividends for weeks and years to come. So why wait? Take a moment to yourself, find your inner sanctuary, and let the power of meditation guide you towards a more balanced, harmonious life, or as we like to call it, the #NewEarthLife.
